U12 Evaluations

U12 Evaluation Process

Who Should Attend Evaluations?

  • Any player interested in playing U12 and born 2015 or later should participate in U12 evaluations.
  • LORL allows two over-aged players on a roster. Any player born in 2013/2014 interested in playing A-level ringette may attend U12 Evaluations.

How Will Players Be Assigned to U12A, U12B and U12C?

The teams will be formed based on the experience and skill of the player groups, as follows:

  • 12A Team: The 12A team will be comprised of the highest evaluated players based on ringette experience and skill demonstrated at evaluations and the previous season. A-level Ringette is a more competitive level of play that often requires increased commitment from athletes and families. Players may be expected to travel greater distances for games and tournaments to compete against other A-level teams, and participation in additional training opportunities, such as dryland conditioning, is common. Practices may also be scheduled later in the evening to accommodate ice availability, and regular attendance at games, practices, and team activities is expected.
  • 12B/C Team: All players not evaluated as being at the highest skill level or who choose not to attend A evaluations will be placed onto a B/C team. Once teams are formed, TRA will determine the ranking of B or C based on the experience and skill of players. B and C level Ringette continues to provide a competitive and rewarding experience, while generally focusing on teams and league play that are geographically closer, helping to reduce travel demands for families. Off-ice training opportunities may be offered to support player development, but they are typically less frequent and may not be a regular requirement throughout the season.
  • *Based on evaluations, TRA reserves the right to change the composition of U12 teams hosted in 2026-27 (e.g., ABC, ABB, ACC, BBC, BCC)

Who will the teams play?

What if a player can’t make evaluations?

  • To be considered for the 12A team, a U12 player must attend 12A evaluations. Exceptions may be considered by TRA’s Coach & Player Development Committee (CPDC) on a case-by-case basis.
  • If a player can’t make B & C Evaluations, player seeding will rely on past playing experience and/or new to-sport best practices.

Registration Process

  • Each player must be fully registered with TRA to be evaluated at any level of U12 play for the 2026/2027 ringette season and must bring a $150 Bond check dated April 1st, 2027 to their first skate. Please note that players will not be able to step on the ice until a bond cheque has been received. NO EXCEPTIONS!

    12A:
To register for 12A evaluations, complete the U12A Evaluation Registration Form.
    12B & C:
Players who do not wish to be evaluated at 12A but would like to be evaluated at the B or C level of play, please fill out the TRA B & C Evaluation Registration Form.

What is the cost for U12 Evaluations?

There will be no additional costs for players to participate in the U12 evaluation process.
